Oct 22, Eli rated it really liked it. This book was exactly what it claimed to be. The words are rude and lude, so don't read this if the worst thing you've ever said is "oh shoot". There are also some basic signs listed here so you can make some dirty complete sentences. I had fun with this one. The only issue I had is that sometimes it wasn't completely clear from the drawings whether you should shake your hand, twist your hand, etc.

Feb 15, Audrey Caldwell rated it did not like it. Funny for someone who knows nothing of ASL; only irritating for anyone who knows basic sign. Though this book is not a serious attempt at sign language, it still should have addressed the language errors; I could not enjoy the book due to the sign errors. Many common grammatical concepts were chosen incorrectly as a language-focused book this is unacceptable such as using the word for "YOUR" when "YOU are " is the intended meaning.
This is just one example of the multiple errors.
I would not Funny for someone who knows nothing of ASL; only irritating for anyone who knows basic sign. I would not recommend this book to any user. Sadly, few buyers would even notice the errors at all; the writers and editors of the book themselves did not even avoid the errors nor catch them. Very sad. I am glad I was able to browse the book in-hand prior to ordering on line so as to avoid paying money for this book of errors.

Oct 18, Jane Doe rated it liked it Shelves: humor , non-fiction , sign-language. It's very basic and the pictures for a new signer are difficult to follow especially if they don't know the signs to begin with or the hand motions. Also, if you want to learn "dirty" signs you should really be hanging out with deaf people in your area. This little book didn't go into some of the culutural differences about how some of the "dirty" signs aren't really dirty in deaf culture.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. My bad. Peace out. See you later. Well the most important thing is to learn sign!

Sure you could rely on gestures andbody language or type it up on the phone or even write it down on paper like an old timer. But after a nanosecond, these methods become so tiresome and slow, you might as well be chiseling it out in stone. Hands over heart. Move shoulders back and forth. While the hearing population may struggle to hold a conversation in a crowded, thumping club, deaf bar-hoppers have the same problem in darkened watering holes—making a decently lit bar animmediate favorite.

This book fillsin the gap between how people really talk in Japan and what Japanese language students are taught.
